The University's representative to the U.S. Senate may no longer have a seat there next year. Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), class of 1971, won the Senate seat in 2002 after defeating 1984 Democratic presidential nominee Walter Mondale, who was put on the ticket after then-incumbent Paul Wellstone died in a plane crash about a week before Election Day.

The University has a role in the forming of the next administration. Phil Schiliro, class of 1978, is the head of congressional relations for President-elect Barack Obama's transition team. He is in charge of coordinating with the House and Senate for the administration, to prepare the Congress for the new president.

Former Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis proposed an end-around to the Electoral College system during a talk Monday afternoon at the Monroe Lecture Center. Even as John Legend's lyrics continue to explore different outlets of love and lust, his music has constantly matured and explored. On one hand, his lyrics examine the thoughts of a man deep in love, and on the other they explore the life and outlets for physical love but the music they have been laced to have continued to change from album to album.

As I stated last week, the Hofstra season is lost. This past defeat to the Richmond Spiders only made my assertion a clear reality to all Chronicle readers. Hofstra was blown out 34-14. The defense gave up 460 yards of total offense which included 302 from Richmond's ground game.
