Between 30 and 40 University students gathered at Hofstra USA Wednesday evening for Wii Sports Night.
Wii Sports Night is an event that occurs six times per year, headed by Brian Austin.
The students who attended played Wii Golf, Tennis, Bowling and Baseball. Its display on two televisions and on an overhead projection screen made it a fun and satisfying experience for those in attendance.
The event concluded with prizes given for the winner and runner-up of the four sporting games played. Sophomore Jeff Herman won of the event, and sophomore James Peshler was declared the runner-up.
The Nintendo Wii, successor to the Nintendo GameCube, was released in 2006 and has since become one of the most popular and best-selling video game consoles to date. It's unique design and user-friendly style attracts gamers of all ages, and college students are no exception. It's the only gaming console to sport the idea of a wireless dual-hand controller, which allows the gamer to exhibit motion and feeling into their performance.
Peshlersaid he felt the event was well-run and that host Austin did a good job keeping records of all the scores.
According to Austin, Wii Sports is accessible to everyone. "No experience of any sport is necessary to be able to play and enjoy the Wii console, which is what makes it enjoyable to a wide audience," he said.
