There have certainly been a few oddities at the Museum of Modern Art in the past, but perhaps none as unique as Marina Abromowic's latest exhibition, The Artist is Present.
Sandra Bullock may soon be gearing up to make play dates with Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt.
For me, the biggest surprise is "Million Dollar Quartet" in the categories Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical.
Canadian indie-rock collective Broken Social Scene's fourth studio album, Forgiveness Rock Record, is exactly what fan's have come to expect: slow, atmospheric and deeply layered with midnight potsmoker chillness.
Music fest this year was a sonic cornucopia of tasty hipsterdom, hip hop and ska. Providing something for everyone is not typically the surest means to success for a musical production, but it seemed to work for Music fest, which drew over 5,000 students, according to Samantha Snow of Hofstra Concerts.
"American Idiot" isn't your typical Broadway musical.
If you are already sick of HD, television executives and engineers have concocted a new money pit for the masses: 3D television.
Thousands upon thousands of sweaty, scantily-clad teenagers packed the Meadowlands Sports Complex parking lot on Sunday for day two of the annual Bamboozle Festival.
Despite the previous rescheduling due to inclement weather, the Wale (pronounced WAH-LAY) show took place Sunday as planned, beginning with a dance routine from Imani. They delivered a frenetic performance on the floor of Hofstra USA over a medley of various hip-hop hits, rearranging themselves into different formations between song segments.
The Roast Beef Curtains are a band serving up fresh cuts of Rock, Reggae and Dub from Long Island. If you missed them at Bar Social on April 24, they will be out and about spreading their eerily West Coast vibes at various locations in the greater New York area this summer. They also have a surprisingly polished EP available, "Pleasure."
It's that time again. Spring is finally here and so are the new must-have trends. Spring/Summer 2010 styles are all about adding a touch of the delicate past to the outrageous details of the future. There is something to suit everyone's personal style this spring.
There is no debating that fashion designer Vera Wang is a rare talent. Known for being Vogue's youngest fashion editor ever, Wang has made a splash in the industry with sleek, sexy and sophisticated looks. Like most designers, she has ventured into the land of cosmetics, creating an array of fragrances. Her "Princess" collection attracts the youthful crowd with upbeat and flirty scents. While the original title product impresses, the latest addition "Glam Princess" fails to deliver.
Someone told me TNL challenged us to review a review they did of our review of a TNL episode, and because I love meta-journalism I took the challenge. Last Thursday's episode opened decently enough actually, the Hofstra lottery was pretty funny. And "Spoiler Alert" is easily one of the best spots TNL's ever done.
Sherie Rene Scott's one-woman show with other people, "Everyday Rapture," has thankfully been preserved on disc (via the record label she owns with husband Kurt Deutsch) and released just in time for the show's opening at the Roundabout's American Airlines Theatre.
For Fall/Winter 2010, Miuccia Prada designed her collection according to a 60's housewife and her failure to achieve the Levittown-style perfection of the home and family.
Danceworks' Spring Concert brought the John Cranford Adams Playhouse to life with vivacious energy and spirit on Monday and Tuesday. After months of preparation, the members of Danceworks were more than ready to leave it all on the stage and give the audience a great show.
In theory, "The Losers" has many of the elements that should, by any means, make it a standout popcorn flick: a diverse, eclectic ensemble, a revenge story and some stirring action sequences. It even has the inherent advantage of stellar source material, having been adapted from Andy Diggle's Vertigo comic series of the same name. Yet, director Sylvain White ("Stomp the Yard") has managed to create a stupidly fun, but rather anemic action movie that fails to combine the aforementioned elements into a convincing and coherent whole.
The nice weather is finally looking like it is here to stay, which means activities like going to the beach and having cook-outs outside are moving outdoors again. This also means new opportunity to stay fit in a fresh environment and moving your workout outdoors.

For Celine F/W 2010, designer Phoebe Philo adhered to the book of minimalism – there were no ostentatious colors, no signs of decadent embroidery — and frankly, there was little hint of the flirtation and girlishness that had been synonymous with Philo when she had designed for Chloe. The Celine Fall/Winter collection has been Philo's second collection since she had left Chloe in 2006.
