The Hofstra volleyball team had a dominant weekend in Hanover, New Hampshire at the Dartmouth Invitational, which took place Sept. 13-14. The Pride dominated all three teams they faced, defeating Dartmouth College, Fordham University, and University of Hartford to take home the title. They now hold a 7-3 record and have extended their winning streak to five matches.
In an up-and-down performance, the Hofstra women’s soccer team defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Knights by a score of 2-1 on Thursday, Sept. 12. The Pride controlled the game for most of the contest, dictating pace and keeping possession, largely on the Knights’ half of the field. Hofstra peppered FDU goalkeeper Amanda Fitzgerald with 23 shots, compared to just three for their opponents.
After losing the first four games to start the season, the Pride’s first win of the year came as a 3-1 victory over the Sacred Heart University Pioneers in a hard-fought, aggressive game on Wednesday, Sept. 11. It also improves Hofstra’s all-time record against Sacred Heart to 17-0.
The Hofstra Pride volleyball team came out on top over St. John’s University in a grueling, five-set match in front of a loud crowd in their home opener at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The Hofstra women’s soccer team came out on top against Stony Brook University by a score of 2-1 in a double overtime thriller on the road on Sunday, Sept. 8. The winning goal came three minutes into the second overtime period by Miri Taylor off a cross from Lucy Shepherd.
The Hofstra Pride field hockey team fell to a record of 0-4 on Sunday afternoon after losing a close matchup to the University of Vermont Catamounts 1-0 at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.
The Hofstra Pride volleyball team rallied from behind to defeat Stetson University in a five-set battle (22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-10) on Saturday, Sept. 7 in their final match at the FIU Panther Fest. The Pride won the final three sets after dropping the first two.
The Hofstra Pride men’s soccer team nearly upset No. 10 ranked Virginia Tech on Sunday, Sept. 8 falling 4-3 in an offensive match at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, VA. The Pride is now 2-2, while Virginia Tech remains undefeated at 4-0.
The Hofstra Pride men’s soccer team dropped their first road game of the season against conference rival James Madison University (JMU) 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 6. This was not only the first conference game of the year for Hofstra, but also a rematch of last year’s Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title game that saw the Pride fall to the Dukes after the match came down to a penalty shootout.
In the first ever meeting between the two schools, the Hofstra Pride volleyball team lost to the Florida International University Panthers in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-22) on Friday night, Sept. 6. The Pride held an 18-17 lead in the final set before dropping eight of the final 12 points.
The Hofstra Pride women's soccer team controlled the first half, but couldn’t hold on to the lead in their 4-1 loss against the No. 21 Rutgers University Scarlet Knights. Junior Lucy Shepherd recorded her first goal of the season for the Pride, and Rutgers received goals from four different players.

After a season which saw the team go 2-4 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play, miss the CAA playoffs by tiebreaker rules to Drexel University and get a new head coach in Courtney Veinotte after Kathy DeAngelis resigned with 20 seasons under her belt, the team has brand new identity and is ready for the upcoming season, according to coach.
