The winner of Hofstra Concerts’ Battle for Music Fest – held Friday night in the Netherlands Core – will go on to open Hofstra Concerts’ Music Fest in May. Two three-man-bands, one stunning team of two and a solo rapper competed for the slot this year.
On Feb. 15, the Smashing Pumpkins announced an official reunion tour, set to begin this July in Arizona. Traveling across the U.S. and parts of Canada, the band will play a total of 36 shows in 36 different cities – ending in September in Idaho and hitting New York City at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 1.

Each year, Hofstra’s Department of Drama and Dance presents highly anticipated celebrations of Shakespearean works in the annual Shakespeare Festival. The festival, now in its 69th year, features performances of the Renaissance master’s plays, as well as musicals, lesser known works and brief adaptations of longer works.
An indie rock band from Ellicott City, Maryland, Snail Mail is finally headlining their own tour in 2018. This comes after previously touring with the Los Angeles-based Girlpool and Brooklyn’s own Beach Fossils. Snail Mail is fronted by singer and lead guitarist Lindsey Jordan, with other band members including bassist Alex Garfield and drummer Ray Brown.
HOMESHAKE is on tour for their 2017 album “Fresh Air,” stopping in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia following the four shows at Brooklyn’s Market Hotel. The music of HOMESHAKE is dynamic in a way that it allows both of these types of people to enjoy the same concert.
