Hofstra Volleyball rolled past the University of Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 14, defeating the Blue Hens 3-1 behind set scores of 25-21, 26-28, 25-15 and 26-24. The Pride picked up win number 15 in match three of their four-game road stretch at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Delaware Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, the Hofstra women’s soccer team clinched a crucial win on the road against the Elon Phoenix by a final score of 4-3.
“I thought we were outplayed,” head coach Richard Nuttall claimed after the Hofstra men’s soccer loss against powerhouse James Madison University 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 13, in what was a huge game in terms of the Colonial Athletes Association (CAA) standings.
The Hofstra men’s soccer team traveled to Brookline, Massachusetts, on Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, to face off against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opponent Northeastern University. It was a tale of two halves for Hofstra field hockey at home against the Northeastern University Huskies. However, fatigue and a record amount of penalty corners allowed the Huskies to pull away in the second half for a 5-2 win. The loss drops Hofstra to 3-11 (1-2 CAA) and brings Northeastern to 4-8 (2-1 CAA).
Hofstra volleyball started the first game of their four-game road trip with a huge upset over the College of Charleston, winning the match three sets to one on Friday, Oct. 5.

Matching last year’s undefeated run to a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship was always going to be difficult for Hofstra’s women’s soccer team. Indeed, since joining the CAA in 2002, Hofstra was the first team to win every single conference game en route to a title. Head coach Simon Riddiough, now in his 13th year as head coach, said simply, “Last year’s run was a miracle run.”
The Hofstra men’s soccer team has been on an incredible run this past month, setting a school record with seven consecutive shutouts, which is also currently the longest streak in the nation. After getting off to a rough start early on with a 0-3-1 record, they have been one of the best teams in the conference since, now with a 5-3-3 record.
For some, volleyball may be just another sport, but for Hofstra volleyball head coach Emily Mansur, it’s life.
From playing to coaching, Mansur has surrounded herself with the sport and made it her lifestyle. “Volleyball is the same as family. It’s one of the most important things I do in my life,” Mansur said.

The 8-4 Hofstra University women’s Soccer team battled with the 7-2 University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) Seahawks on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Duke University and edged out a 2-1 win for their second consecutive victory.
