Anticipated album releases for fall

By Michael Primavera, Staff Writer

In the upcoming months there will be a ton of new music coming our way. From Kanye West to Kings of Leon, there will be something for everyone. Not just new releases, but a few reissues, as well.

Kanye West

One of the most anticipated upcoming albums is Kanye West's untitled album which will be released in November. After last year's VMA debacle, Kanye decided to step out of the spotlight for some time. When the time was right, he started to record new music at a studio in Honolulu.  He told Rolling Stone Magazine, "It's the anti-everything-that-was-before."

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift, the victim of last year's VMA debacle is also due to release a new album entitled "Speak Now" on October 25. This album is very exciting because for the first time she has written every track herself without the assistance of co-writers. She premiered one of her new songs at this years' VMAs, a song entitled "Innocent." The song was written about her VMA fiasco with Kanye West.

Kings of Leon

Another album coming out soon is Kings of Leon's follow up to 2008's "Only by the Night." The new album is called "Come Around Sundown" and is due out October 19. The band recorded this album in New York City, which was much different for them, being southern boys. They said that living in New York reminded them of their southern upbringing and caused them to write some very country songs, including a song entitled "Back Down South," featuring a slide guitar and a fiddle.

Weezer

Weezer will be re-releasing the album "Pinkerton." This was one of, if not the best, albums the band has come out with. It will now feature b-sides, live cuts and outtakes. One song in particular to get excited about is "Tragic Girl" which is said to be better than a lot of the original album. This should definitely get Weezer fans excited.

Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi's new album will be coming out soon as well. "Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Roger" is due out November 9. He recorded most of this record in Hawaii, in the same studio where Kanye recorded his new album. The two even collaborated for a song on the album entitled "Wylin' ‘Cause I'm Young."

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj will also be releasing some new music soon. Her first LP "Pink Friday" will be coming out November 23.  This album will be her first non-mixtape release. She works with many "superproducers" on this album such as Kanye West and Swizz Beatz.

Bruce Springsteen

Another re-release is Bruce Springsteen's "Darkness on the Edge of Town," due out November 16. The re-release will take the original ten track LP and turn it into a three-cd, three DVD set, which includes hours of live footage. Also included in the set is "The Promise," a documentary about the making of the album.

There are many other new releases and a few other reissues coming out, but these are some of the most anticipated and biggest one's coming out in the next month or so. Everyone is going to have a lot to listen to in the coming months, and hopefully there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
