It’s off to Boston, Massachusetts, as the Hofstra University women’s basketball team looks to avenge the men’s team loss to the Northeastern University Huskies.

Hofstra enters this game 7-6 overall and 1-1 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Huskies will be coming into this one 4-8 overall and have started off the CAA slate with two losses.

Hofstra head coach Danielle Santos Atkinson and her team are coming off a 48-46 loss against the College of William & Mary Tribe which took place on Sunday, Jan. 7. While the Pride led 15-4 after the first quarter, the Tribe took a two-point lead at the half. But despite a 20-point third quarter, Hofstra was only able to muster four points in the final period.

The Pride had 51 rebounds in that contest, which marks the third time this season that Hofstra has had 50-plus rebounds in a game.

Northeastern comes into this matchup having also lost a game by two points to Drexel University. The Huskies’ Derin Erdogan had 27 points to lead the Huskies, but it wasn’t enough in the 68-66 end result.

Erdogan is Northeastern’s leading scorer and averages 16.4 points per game, in addition to a team-leading 4.1 assists per game. Deja Bristol, who had a 12-point game against Drexel, averages 5.5 rebounds per game to lead the Huskies.

Northeastern won the matchup the last time they faced off against Hofstra on Jan. 22, 2023. Bristol had 16 points and went 8-9 on field goal attempts with an end result of 68-48.

Tip-off from Cabot Center in Boston is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14.
