In 2018, the world was introduced to 17-year-old Australian-born hip-hop/rap rising star, The Kid Laroi. Since his fresh start in the world of music, Laroi has released three studio albums and has had a handful of EPs released along with collaborative projects. In 2020, Laroi released an EP called “Addison Rae,” referring to the TikTok star, Addison Rae. She posted a video using his song with him in the video, quickly gaining traction at over 14 million views. With the attention Laroi received from his big TikTok debut, his career took off.

Born into a middle class family, Laroi’s mother’s financial situation rapidly deteriorated following her separation from his father. This resulted in Laroi’s mom selling drugs to make ends meet, while she and her two sons couch surfed and lived with her parents. In ninth grade, Laroi dropped out of school and submitted a demo tape into a radio contest. Making it to the final round, he then went on to perform live on stage, which officially kicked off his music career. Now, he is worth over five million dollars, and supports both his mother and his little brother and they live in Los Angeles, California together.

Since the start of his career in 2018, Laroi has had several opportunities to collaborate with artists. One creative component Laroi has added to the releases of his three most recent albums is that he has tied them all together. The first two albums within the trilogy were released in 2020, called “F*ck Love” and “F*ck Love (Savage).” Then in 2021 he produced his hottest album yet, “F*ck Love Three: Over You,” which is the final installation of this trilogy. Throughout the trilogy, he has had a vast array of artists featured within the albums, like Machine Gun Kelly, Mustard, Lil Durk, Polo G, Lil Mosey and Justin Bieber. Throughout the whole trilogy, Laroi gives a deep, personal and aggressive look into his life.

In Laroi’s most recent release, “F*ck Love Three: Over You,” out of all 26 tracks that are within the album, the one that made its way to the top is “Stay” featuring Bieber. At the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for over four weeks, “Stay” has made its mark in the world of music.

Bieber played a large role in the production of this album by taking Laroi under his wing and guiding him through the stress and reality of fame and the music industry. With Bieber guiding him and mentoring him through the harsh reality of the industry, fans are very excited to see what Laroi does next.
