On Feb. 19, a student reported to PS that she observed several key scratches along the side of her vehicle after parking it in the Netherlands parking lot the previous day. There were no witnesses and police assistance was declined.

On Feb. 21 at 1:20 a.m., PS responded to a noise complaint in a room in Suffolk Hall. When they entered the room to tell the residents to turn down their music, PS discovered that there was a beer pong game in clear view, along with a group of eight students who were in the room. The guests were told to leave and the occupants of the room were issued referrals to the Office of Community Standards.

On Feb. 21, a PS officer on patrol discovered that an unknown person or persons damaged the security gate arm located in the faculty/staff parking lot across from Breslin Hall. A work order was prepared to have the arm replaced or repaired and an investigation is being conducted.

On Feb. 21, a Hofstra student residing in Estabrook Hall reported to PS that two $100 bills were taken from her wallet, which was in a backpack located in her room at some point between 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 and 3 p.m. on Feb. 21. Police assistance was declined and an investigation is being conducted.

On Feb. 21, PS responded to a report of the odor of marijuana in a room in Suffolk Hall. PS entered the room to find the resident inside and also observed a 17-inch machete knife. The occupant stated the machete was his and that he understood he was not supposed to have it on campus. There was no marijuana recovered but the machete was confiscated and the student was issued a referral to the Office of

 

On Feb. 21, PS responded to a report of the odor of marijuana in Estabrook Hall. PS responded, entered the room and found the resident and a guest. When questioned, the guest, who was identified as a nonstudent, stated that he was authorized to smoke medical marijuana and presented a medical usage card. The officer informed the guest that even though he was authorized to use medical marijuana, he was not allowed to do so on the campus. The guest was then banned from campus and the resident was issued a referral to the Office of Community Standards for the actions of his guest.

On Feb. 24, PS responded to a verbal dispute in the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. Upon arrival, one student complained that another student was harass- ing him. The student reportedly swatted his arm while he was carrying his laptop, causing the laptop to fall to the floor. The situation was calmed and while the laptop was damaged, police assistance was declined. There were no injuries and the student was issued a referral to the Office of Community Standards for his actions.

On Feb. 24, an RA in Estabrook Hall reported to PS that she smelled the odor of marijuana coming from a room on the seventh floor. PS responded and while there was an odor of marijuana inside the room, no marijuana was recovered. The resident was issued a refer- ral to the Office of Community Standards.

On Feb. 25, a Hofstra staff member reported that she left her wallet in an unlocked drawer in her office in the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication between 5 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 6 p.m. on Feb. 24. When she returned to her office she report- ed that $15 in cash was missing from her wallet. Police assistance was declined.

On Feb. 25, two students were involved in a dispute over a parking space in front of CV Starr Hall. One of the students involved was later observed keying the other student’s vehicle on both sides. NCPD responded and while there were no arrests, the student was issued a referral to the Office of Community Standards for vandalism.
