Compiled by Sharon Rus On Oct. 2 at 1:45 p.m., PS responded to an altercation between a male and female student in the Alliance Hall parking lot. The female student reported that they had an argument, during which the male student slapped her in the face. Both students were issued a summons. A no-contact order was issued to the male student. No physical injuries were reported, and counseling and medical assistance were declined.
On Oct. 2 at 4:20 p.m., a female student was harassed in the Tilberg House laundry room by an unidentified person who kept trying to talk to her. The student began to scream and the person fled. PS conducted a search which proved negative. Police assistance was declined. A crisis counselor was requested and no further action was taken.
On Oct. 2 at 11:45 p.m., a resident in Estabrook Hall reported that their guitar sustained damage from a water leak in the room. The custodial staff was notified, and a work order was prepared to have the leak repaired.
On Oct. 3rd at 1:40 a.m., PS received a report from an RA in Bill of Rights that a student who was banned from the hall was inside. PS responded and apprehended the student who was escorted out of the residence and issued a summons.
On Oct. 3 at 12:30 a.m., PS responded to a parking lot in Hofstra University club where two males were having a physical altercation. One was a student and the other was a guest of the student. They were both apprehended and the situation defused. The student was issued a summons, and the non-student was banned from campus.
On Oct. 3 at 2 p.m., a student reported that at 8 p.m. on Oct 2 she parked her car in Gittleson Hall parking lot, and when she returned at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 a gold bracelet, Coach purse, phone charger and MCAT prep book were missing from her car. There was no damage done to the vehicle. Nassau police responded and prepared a case report for the $3,000 worth of missing items.
On Oct. 3 at 9:30 a.m., a female student reported to PS that she has been repeatedly harassed by another female student through social media and at various campus locations. The student was issued a summons and an investigation is being conducted.
On Oct. 3 at 11:20 a.m., a Constitution Hall resident reported that at 8 p.m. the previous night, he had propped his door open while he went to the bathroom. When he returned, his wallet which had his ID card, Hofstra card, government-issued ID, insurance card, credit card and various other important items were missing. Police assistance was declined, and HofstraCard Services was notified about the loss.
On Oct 4 at 2:20 p.m., a staff member parked near the baseball field. When he returned, the rear window of his car had been shattered by a baseball. No action was taken at the time.
On Oct 4 at 7:40 p.m., PS observed an unknown male in the stadium in his underwear after the Cosmos game. The male was apprehended, escorted off field, and taken to the Hofstra Information Center. Then he was taken to the Nassau University Medical Center.
On Oct 4 at 11:25 a.m., a student reported that after she ended a relationship with a male student he was harassing her. Police assistance was declined and an investigation is being conducted.
On Oct. 5, a Hofstra staff representative from audio and visual services reported that several items of studio equipment, such as a power supply and 50-foot extension cord were missing from Hofstra USA. The total value of equipment was estimated at $285. A search was conducted and proved negative. Police assistance was declined.
On Oct. 7 at 12 a.m., PS personnel at Colonial Square West observed an unidentified individual walking in a suspicious manner into the woods of Colonial Square parking lot. They confronted him, identified him as a student and observed a glass pipe with marijuana residue and a sandwich bag containing marijuana. They confiscated it and issued him a summons.
On Oct. 7 at 10:30 a.m., during a health and safety inspection in Enterprise Hall, an RA found a pink glass bong. It was confiscated and turned over to PS. The resident of the room was issued a summons.
On Oct. 7 at 11:30 p.m., a student went to the information center after losing an ID card in an unknown manner. HofstraCard Services replaced it and found that the lost card had been used without his authorization. An investigation is being conducted.
On Oct. 7 at 1 p.m., a student gave his Hofstra ID card to the Alliance Hall RSR booth while he was visiting. When he returned, he discovered that the card was missing. He went to notify HofstraCard Services, and it was discovered that someone had charged $9.50 on it. The card was then deactivated.
