The Pride continued a high flying start to the season following a 4-0 win over Vermont at Hofstra Soccer Stadium on Sunday.

After what seemed to be a fantastic start to the campaign following a 2-1 surprising victory over No.15 Syracuse, The Pride yet again show they are a force to be reckon with, after thrashing Vermont in a 2nd half, four-goal overhaul.

Junior midfielder Joseph Holland was in impressive form again, scoring a brace while sophomores Mani Wallcott, and Meshack Eshun Addy added to the tally in their second straight win of the season.

The match started off with Vermont looking for the early lead having four shots in the first 20 minutes of the game. But again, it was the Pride`s defensive backline that proved too much for the visitors.

It was Wallcott who broke the deadlock for the Pride off an assist from junior Harri Hawkins, scoring his first goal of the year.

It did not take long after that for the Pride to continue on the scoring spree. In fact, two minutes later Holland scored his first goal of the game after his initial shot was blocked, scoring on the rebound giving the Pride the two-goal lead.

Eshun Addy, who looked very impressive in the game against Syracuse, proved yet again to be a very good individual asset, after the midfielder from Ghana took the ball from the midfield, passed a defender with ease, and putting the ball over visiting goalie Walton, insuring the victory by scoring the third goal just before the 80th minute mark.

Unlike the game against Syracuse, where the Pride lost rhythm in the last minutes of the game allowing the Orangmen to almost equalize, Coach Nuttall will be very happy to see his team close off the visitors in a professional manner.

The Pride kept attacking in the closing stages earning a penalty in the 82nd minute with Joseph Holland scoring his third goal of the season finishing off Vermont with a shutout win.

Alongside the Pride`s sturdy defense, Patric Pray managed 4 saves behind the goal, recording his 12th individual shutout.

After a superb start to the season, The Pride will hit the road to face Army West Point on Sept. 4 at 12:30pm
