Public Safety Briefs

A student left his bag unattended in the student center on Oct. 26 for a short period of time and upon his return he discovered that his Iphone was missing. The student said he was sitting right next to it. He decline police assistance.

During a health and safety inspection on Oct. 27 the smell of marijuana entered the room the pipe was confiscated and appearance summons given.

On Oct. 28 a student center manager witnessed a Hofstra student vandalize an irrigation sprinkler in front of Dutch Treats, the student was apprehended and given an appearance summons.

A Hofstra Administrator discovered a pipe and hose while working in a room in Alliance Hall on Oct. 28, the pipe and hose, which contained marijuana residue the paraphernalia, was confiscated by public safety and the residents of the room were given appearance summonses.

On Oct. 29 eight students reported to public safety that their vehicles, which had been parked in parking field 7 by Vanderpoel hall, had been damaged and some of the vehicles had property taken. NCPD was notified, a report was taken and an investigation is being conducted.

A Hofstra student reported that he lost his ID on Oct 29. When he went to card services to report his stolen ID it was discovered that there was several unauthorized charges on his Dutch Debits an investigation was conducted and the student was apprehended for the unauthorized use of the card and given an appearance summons for theft.

On Oct. 31 Public Safety received a report that there was a male in Providence house banging on a door.  He was a non-student and the ex of the resident of the room. He was taken to the HIC and banned from campus.

On Oct. 30 a PSO assigned to the Oak Street security booth saw a male enter the campus wearing a batman costume, the young man refused to present ID. He was stopped and identified as a Hofstra student and received appearance summons.

Public Safety received a report on Oct. 30 that a vehicle was driving around in circles on the north campus. A PSO stopped the vehicle and the occupants were identified as non-students. They were then taken to the HIC and banned from campus

On Oct. 31 a PSO on patrol in Stuyvesant hall discovered that four exit signs and several ceiling tiles on the third floor were vandalized. A search was conducted with no results.

Public Safety stopped a vehicle, which was driving around in circles in parking field seven. Both driver and passenger were given a summons.

Four students were found smoking weed in a parked vehicle in the Suffolk parking lot by a PSO on patrol at 2:00 a.m. on Nov. 1. A pipe containing weed resin was confiscated and the students were given a summons for their actions.

A Hofstra law student who resides on California Avenue reported that an unknown person threw a pumpkin through his front window on Oct. 31. There were no injuries and police assistance was declined.
