'Halo' now spans multiple mediums

By Cody Heintz, Assistant Business Manager

"The Red vs. Blue: Recollection Box Set" is a fine addition to the story of "Red vs. Blue." This DVD set follows the story of the red and blue armies as they leave Blood Gulch, fight the mysterious Meta and unravel the secretive history of the freelancer program. This three DVD box set comes with a cost of $29.99, but with all of the extra features included, it's worth the buy. This set also comes with the two mini-series, "Recovery One" and "Relocated" as well as commentary, deleted scenes and trailers.

The first disc covers the sixth season. Also included on this disc are funny transition scenes that include the red team driving off a cliff in the warthog (or the "chupathingy" as called in the series) and Caboose making the worst grenade toss of all time.

The second disc includes the seventh season and the mini-series "Relocated." This disc also includes commentary, outtakes and deleted scenes for the season and PSA's dealing with the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Halloween. Instead of short transition scenes between options, there are small scenes that show Caboose acting like his clueless self. The third disk includes the eighth season. There are also RVB shorts that deal with gaming and technology.

The seasons in themselves are funny and are better when viewed on an HDTV instead of just a computer screen. The mini-series that is included is an excellent add-on to the seasons. The commentary is enjoyable as it goes from describing the scenes in the show to off-topic talks, which can get borderline inappropriate. The behind the scenes footage also adds depth to the box, showing the inner workings studio behind "Red vs. Blue."

The bonus disc deals with the sport of Grifball, which is a sport in the RVB universe that is based on a game mode in "Halo 3." This bonus DVD is a good addition to the box set and is funny as a sports parody set in the RVB universe.
