Hi.

Welcome to the official, independent student-run newspaper of Hofstra University!

What effect do you think the new online degree will have on the University?

By Kimberly Chin

"I think it will have a negative effect because it kind of makes the university less accredited if students are allowed to take courses online. It makes it easier to access online information, people can cheat, and a professor is not teaching them. Plus, no one is watching them."

"I don't believe it would be a negative effect on the university, because it can only go to publicize universities. I know that most of our population is made of commuters and they probably benefit highly from the program. I'm pretty positive it will have a good effect on the school.

"It depends. They would probably have more graduate students because people will have access to it through home and they won't have to commute or live on campus. It also depends on how expensive it would be compared to other online programs or how expensive it is for graduates here."
