On March 5, the Hofstra Pride wrestling team competed on the second day of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) championships, held at the University of Pennsylvania.
The Hofstra Pride wrestling team headed down to the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) championships at the University of Pennsylvania (U Penn) on March 4 and 5. The Pride had nine wrestlers competing, with Jacob Ferreira coming into the championships as the team’s highest-seeded wrestler at No. 4. Trey Rogers was seeded not far behind at No. 5 and Zachary Knighton-Ward was seeded at No. 8.
On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Hofstra Pride wrestling team won in their final dual of the season, 21-15 against California Baptist University (Cal Baptist).
On a cold Sunday afternoon where the Hofstra wrestling alumni were honored, the Hofstra wrestling team split a doubleheader against Northern Colorado University and Virginia Military Institute at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. They beat VMI 28-15 but fell to Northern Colorado 21-13. Before the match against Northern Colorado, the banner honoring alumni Nick Gallo, Hofstra’s only nation champion, was unveiled.
Ten Hofstra University wrestlers competed in the Cliff-Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational starting on Friday, Nov. 30. The tournament featured top teams from around the country including No. 2 Ohio State University. Hofstra’s Dylan Ryder (125) was the only wrestler from Hofstra to advance to the second day of the tournament.
