Tenured Zarb professors driven to resign

A high turnover rate in the Accounting, Taxation and Legal Studies in Business Department has been linked to an atmosphere of bullying, cronyism and disregard for faculty policy. Since the spring of 2015, seven full-time faculty members that make up one of the largest departments in the Frank G. Zarb School of Business no longer work at Hofstra. Administrators within the school were accused of repeatedly breaching the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), circumventing checks and balances at the university. 

Yale professor lectures on religious freedoms

The Department of Religion’s annual Critical Spiritualities Event featured a discussion with Yale University professor Tisa Wenger on her new book about the concept of religious freedom and its impact on ideas that shape American culture. “A Conversation with Dr. Tisa Wenger,” took place on Wednesday, March 28 at 6 p.m. on the 10th floor of the Axinn Library.

Space exploration explained by NASA’s chief scientist

NASA Chief Scientist Dr. Ellen Stofan spoke at the Helene Fortunoff Theater in the Monroe Lecture Center about how the study of space can help us better understand Earth in order to improve our own atmosphere. The event took place on Thursday, March 8 as a part of Hofstra University’s Science Night Live series.

The David S. Mack Physical Education Center was transformed into a sea of green on Sunday, March 11, as students, community members and vendors packed the facility to celebrate Irish culture at Hofstra’s 20th annual Irish Festival.

Psychology majors receive new workspace

Until this semester, Room 029 of Hauser Hall was simply a conference room used for psychology department meetings. But after a brief transformation, it has been officially converted into a dedicated study and hangout space as an “Undergraduate Student Workroom” for psychology majors.

Compass makes dining alterations after flaws discovered

After concerns over cross-contamination, mislabeling and misunderstandings of the Halal dietary restrictions earlier this semester, Compass Dining developed a corrective action plan on Monday, Feb. 26, that relocated Halal offerings from the Yo!Bowl self-serve line to the G8 hot entrée station in the Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center.

2018 yearbook falls by the wayside

Due to its lack of membership, as well as its neglecting to submit a budget or update its GetInvolvedHU page, the formerly robust Nexus club, formerly in charge of yearbook production, has now lost official recognition as a Hofstra-affiliated organization.
