‘Picard’ continues the legacy of ‘The Next Generation’

On April 20, the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard” concluded on Paramount+ in a triumphant finale that rocked audiences to their core. Without a doubt, the series brought “Star Trek” back to its best in over 20 years.

Following the mixed negative reception of the last two seasons from audiences, along with previous showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman departing to work on their own “Star Trek” projects, Terry Matalas, former production associate of “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and writer of “Star Trek: Enterprise,” was brought on board to write season three. It is clear that this is a finale that was written by the fans, for the fans.

Average "Andor"

“Andor,” the newest in a slew of “Star Wars” streaming series on the platform Disney+, finished its first season on Nov. 23. The series follows Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a thief on the run who becomes involved in a raid on an Imperial fortress, which leads to his arrest, escape and ultimate enlistment in the Rebellion as a spy as introduced to audiences in 2016’s “Rogue One.”

63rd Grammy Awards: History made for female artists

The 63rd Grammy Awards were held on Sunday, March 14 at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The entire event was held in person, unlike other 2021 award shows such as the Emmys and the Golden Globes, which opted for partially or entirely virtual events. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the night was filled with live performances and big wins for artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

'BoJack Horseman' reaches emotional finale

It is impossible to express what “BoJack Horseman” can mean to people without discussing the kinds of people who find themselves drawn to this show. “BoJack” is a show that offers us a mirror to reflect our worst selves. It gives us the opportunity to confront some of humankind’s ugliest aspects and forces us to confront the fact that some things can never be forgiven. “BoJack” lets us see the worst of ourselves, either in the dysfunctional horse who can’t help but make things worse, the high-functioning cat who poured everything into a career that gives her nothing in return or the human woman who wrestles with a very real depiction of depression. The show that sold itself in the first season as a goofy little cartoon featuring a washed-up horse became a place for people to realize that they aren’t alone – that Hollywood stars and celebrities can be just like us, even when that’s a bad thing.
