Dorm Room Dish

By Samantha Lim, Staff Writer

Even if you aren't a fan of the popular 1990s sitcom Friends, you're bound to enjoy this recipe, adapted from one of the show's most memorable episodes: "The One With Ross's Sandwich."

As the episode's title suggests, the plot revolves around Ross, who goes off his rocket upon discovering that a coworker has taken his lunch from the office fridge.

This recipe, which utilizes Thanksgiving leftovers, is a good way of using scraps from the big meal. As Ross explains, the secret to making this delicious sandwich is the "moist-maker," a slice of bread that is soaked in gravy and placed in the middle of the sandwich. Since turkey can sometimes be a little dry, the "moist-maker" is the key to balancing textures.

If you have all the required ingredients at hand, it takes no more than five minutes to assemble this sandwich. Give it a go to see why Ross was so crazy about this sandwich. You would be possessive of it too!

Spread some mayonnaise on two slices of whole-wheat bread. If you're not a fan of mayonnaise, it may be substituted for butter or margarine. This is a colossal sandwich made with three slices of bread. Therefore, opt for whole wheat bread as a healthier alternative to white bread.

Place a few slices of turkey breast on a slice of bread. Top this with some stuffing, followed by cranberry sauce. Set aside.

Spoon some turkey gravy into a shallow bowl. Gently soak the third slice of bread in the gravy. This will give you the "moist-maker." Transfer the gravy-drenched slice of bread to the top of the previously assembled pile. Layer more turkey on top of the "moist-maker," and spoon some stuffing over this. Cover with the last slice of bread.

Heat your sandwich in the microwave for 5-8 seconds. Prepare yourself for that first mouthful. Eating this sandwich can get messy. However, you might actually enjoy this appetizing sandwich more than last Thursday's Thanksgiving dinner. Give thanks!
