All in Basketball

In the final week of the regular season the Hofstra women's basketball team took on three teams they suffered losses to earlier in the year. Hofstra went 2-1 in those three contests with a road win against Towson 47-41, a 53-37 win against Northeastern and a 59-41 loss at Delaware. The Pride finished out the regular season with a conference record of 11-7, which is good for the sixth seed in next week's CAA Tournament in Harrisonburg, VA.

The Hofstra Pride Women's Basketball team has accomplished something no Colonial Athletic Association team has since January 27, 2008; beat Drexel at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Behind a team leading 21 points from sophomore guard Nicole Capurso, including the game winner in overtime, the Pride knocked off the Dragons by a final of 68-67 on Sunday.

About three weeks from now, all twelve Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball teams will gather in Richmond, VA to try and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the conference tournament.  At this point in the season, teams usually begin to fall into place, and the seeding becomes a little clearer cut.  Well, that is certainly not the case for 2010.

Despite the snowy weather, the Mack Sports Complex drew a crowd of nearly a thousand people to see the Hofstra men's basketball team(13-13, 6-8 CAA) take on the Drexel Dragons. Led by junior Charles Jenkins and freshman Chaz William's offensive fire power, the Pride defeated the Dragons 75-64 Wednesday night. The Pride have now won four of its last five games, and look to extend the streak.
