Rain can't stop The Script

By Jennifer Hillman, Staff Writer

The rain did not stop the crowd coming to Terminal Five this past Thursday.  A large crowd got up close and personal with "The Script", a popular Irish Band and Joshua Radin, an alternative musician whose music is heard consistently on ABC shows including Grey's Anatomy.

Joshua Radin, a gifted guitarist with a sweet voice was the opening act for The Script. For much of his set, he had difficulty swaying the crowd to listen.  At one point, Radin and his band attempted to play one song acoustically with no microphones and no electronics. It proved to be somewhat ineffective as the crowd proceeded to ignore his request to keep quiet. The crowd was too anxious and excited to listen to The Script. This was a minor thing for Radin because his fans were in attendance and were able to eventually get the rest of crowd to clap and listen to Radin's songs including "I'd Rather Be With You" and "Brand New Day". Radin expressed his happiness after the crowd sang along with one of his songs. He called it the best feeling in the world and hoped any fellow musicians in the crowd could experience that feeling someday.

The Script was ecstatic to be back in New York City and promised to put on a show that would make it worthwhile for traveling through the rain to see them preform.  They held up to this promise. They preformed for an hour and half most of their debut CD. Songs included "Break Even", "We Cry" and "If You See Kay". At one point Danny O'Donoghue, the lead singer led a sing-a-long of their single "The Man who Can't be Moved".

It was hard to tell for most of the show who was having more fun, the crowd or the band?  O'Donoghue consistently jumped into the crowd and offered the microphone to let his fans sings with him while lead guitarist Mike Sheehan jumped and danced as he played the guitar.

The band previewed two songs off of their second CD Science and Faith, which will be released in the United States in 2011. Many of the fans however sang along to the two songs, "Nothing" and "For the First Time". The fans are devoted to the men from Ireland and their music that they have seemed to have already gone on YouTube to listen to the CD. The CD has already been released in the U.K. and Ireland. During the show, Sheehan raised a beer to thank the crowd for their support and love.

The only complaint from the crowd, Sheehan didn't have beers for them.
