After a thirteen-day break, the Hofstra University women's basketball team was back on the court to welcome Fairfield University to the Mack Sports Complex on Sunday, Dec. 5.
Freshman guard Kate Loper scored a game high 17 points in her collegiate debut but it wasn't enough as the Hofstra Pride women's basketball team fell to visiting Virginia 82-66 in the season opener for both schools.
Just three days after its loss to Virginia, the Hofstra University women's basketball won 78-55 over St. Peter's College, who visited the Mack Sports Complex on Monday night.
This past week the Hofstra Pride went on a five day road trip trough Virginia that was expected to be the "make or break" portion of the conference slate. While Hofstra didn't come out of the Commonwealth unscathed, they didn't leave bruised and battered either. On Thursday night they defeated previously top 25 James Madison in overtime 69-62 but fell three days later in Norfolk to perennial power Old Dominion by a final of 51-46.
Bouncing back from a tough loss defines a good team and the Pride proved just that by beating Providence Tuesday night 72 – 68. The Pride had a nine-day lay off before matching up with the Friars, who were 7 – 1 entering the game.
