Benefits for older women dating younger men

By Chelsea Tirrell, Columnist

Fresh meat. No, I'm not talking about what you're likely to find at your local supermarket. I'm talking about the new men that have found their way on to the University's campus this past week.

Athletic, intelligent, and well rounded are just a few of the words to describe them. But then there's lackadaisical, rude, and conceited. Depending on your luck of the draw, you'll be faced with any of the above. Granted, any man will provide these characteristics but add a little immaturity into the mix and you may have a problem. Or do you? The notion has been that younger men and older women don't mix. It's assumed that women mature faster than men and, therefore, they'll only grow annoyed with their inability to act sensibly.

But take a look at Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. In the light of Hollywood, they're as strong as ever (despite the alleged rumor that Ashton cheated). Compare them to Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight who have shown us time and time again that the road is often rocky when dating an older man.

First, let's consider their experience. Younger men haven't had as long to learn the player game. Hence, it's possible that they're not trying to double-time you. On the other hand, older men have had their time to fool around and are often looking to settle down. Still, though, it's second nature to consider a man's past activities with other women. No one wants to feel unsure or insecure about their man's past and dating someone younger means you don't necessarily have to.

Now let's consider your experience. Once he's got you, he's not going to want to let you go. He knows what a good thing he's got because, well, you're older. You've been around the block a time or two and have likely learned from experience how to satisfy him to the best of your abilities relationship-wise. He'll be dying to show you off to his friends not only because you're a confident, older woman, but also because it'll make him feel good. That being said, he'll do everything to keep you. He'll treat you as you deserve to be treated.

If you're even the tiniest bit nostalgic, reliving memories of your past can get you feeling giddy and carefree all over again. Dating a younger guy can bring that back. Whether it's staying in and playing Nintendo 64 while munching on Twinkies or going out and racing go-carts, you get to experience it all without anyone giving you grief about it.

Sure, you could do it alone (shout out to my single girls), but these activities are best done with a partner. And when that adrenaline is rushing, you'll want to have a guy to cling to. I know what you're saying, "But I want an older, more muscular, man." Don't fret, my ladies. Have you seen the new baseball and lacrosse boys? They're sure to gratify your needs.

Let's just hope that doesn't go to their heads. The last thing we want is for them to know we're on the prowl for a younger, sensible, mouth-watering man and that they're our targets. Then again, maybe we do.
