Mahoney & Oddity highlight first HWO event

By Peter F. DISilvio

Tuesday night, the doors opened on the first Hofstra Wrestling Organization's "Wrestling May Massacre." The HWO is a club dedicated to promoting professional wrestling and they definitely succeeded in their goal at the May Massacre.

The event, which featured four live wrestling matches in the multipurpose rooms of the Student Center, drew a lively crowd of over 80 students. Josh Richter, HWO founder, said that response to the event was 'unbelievable.'

The first match featured Justin Toxic, Tommy Gun and crowd favorite The Notororious. Any individual would be hard pressed not to have been impressed by the excellent showing of athleticism and charisma. High flying moves off the ropes and daredevil leaps out of the ring kept the crowd on their feet for the twenty minute duration of the match. The bone breaking action came to its crescendo when The Notorious delivered a hellacious shot to the back of Justin Toxic's head and came away with the win.

Shortly before the event, event headliner Balls Mahoney went on record to say "Honestly, Lenn Oddity and I, both being psychotic, think alike when it comes to matches. I predict insane bumps, insane attacks and no wasted movement."

Another match of the night featured Brooke Carter, a tall blonde femme fatale, and Rick Cataldo, a cross-dressing gender-bending wrestler. The match was comedic to say the least, featuring hair pulling, the two wrestlers hitting on the audience and Cataldo even going so far as to pull on the thong of Carter.

By the end of the match between Mahoney and Oddity, both combatants had been hit with steel chairs several times, been dropped on thumb tacks and had a keyboard broken over their faces. After a final superplex, Mahoney came away with the win and the Hofstra Wrestling Organization World Title, a silver belt featuring the Hofstra 'H 'painted on it.

"The event was fantastic" said Sadie Williams, HWO President. She went on to say that "advertising" or a lack thereof "really hurt us." A sentiment shared by many including Balls Mahoney and Lenn Oddity. "I really hope you guys do another show" said Oddity. "I think with a good months worth of advertising [HWO] could sell out the room."
